" Used by the fearsome swordsmen of the Tercios Españoles and a companion piece to the Tizona of the same period. This small knife was often used in combination with the sword, with the aim of firstly stopping the opponent's attack and secondly attacking their side."
Craftsmen Records:
The hilt consists of a knuckle-guard in the shape of a sail, which can be openwork or plain, quillons forming a cross, and the grip and pommel fixing the tang.
The blade is of Toledo steel with one facet, which can be decorated with a rompepuntas (point breaker) on one side.
Its scabbard has openwork fittings to match the knuckle-guard.
