Description

 

History:

"Jineta sword attributed to Boabdil 'el Chico', the last Nasrid King of Granada. It was given by the Catholic Monarchs to Don Diego Fernández de Cordoba, Governor of Los Donceles. The jineta sword has inscriptions from the Koran and Arabic decoration on the grip. Currently on display together with an estoc, rapier and other objects in the Army Museum at the Alcázar in Toledo."

Craftsmen Records:

Large, flat, U-shaped cross-guard which is open towards the blade, engraved in its entirety with Arabic motifs.

Rounded grip, engraved and tapering in both directions from the centre to either end.

Rounded, pear-shaped pommel, with a long, pointed finial. Engraved with motifs matching the cross-guard.

Narrow blade with two facets.
