Sword Work Specialists

Handicraft products adapted for films, tv series and theatre productions

Antonio Arellano Pulgar, Swordsmith Master since 2002, from Toledo, has a wideexperience in the elaboration of swords, daggers, axes, crossbows, and all kinds of metal objects for film and television props.

His extensive knowledge of temper, forge and artistic locksmith connected with his totally handmade method of elaboration, allows him to create any type of unique piece.

Both his replicas of historical figures, such as Isabel "La Católica", Hernán Cortés and Carlos V, and his own creations adapted to the characteristics demanded by different producers have been used in national television series and films such as "Águila Roja" , "Isabel", "Carlos, king and emperor", "Toledo" or "Captain Thunder"..

Internationally he has designed, elaborated and customized the swords and daggers of the main characters of the TV series from Disney and ABC "Still Star Crossed" that will be released world-wide in May 2017, included  additional to pieces adapted for the combat and  secondary weapons for the armies of this mega-production.

"Aged” Technique

Our swords and daggers are authentic and realistic thanks to the materials used, the elaboration process carried out and the unique technique of aging.

The technique of aging is an exclusive technique of the master Arellano, transmitted from parents to children for generations, which allows to obtain an old, realistic and aged look finish very interesting for the spectator in all his creations, maintaining this way the historical exactitude of the each piece.

This highly detailed finish is highly appreciated by the film and television studios who want to take care of every detail in their productions, and in a very particular way by museology companies, such as in the works developed for the Museum of the Medieval Castle of Peñiscola (Castellón), scene of the sixth season of "Games Of Thrones", where swords, helmets, axes, or crossbows are exposed.

Duralumin

Handicraft products adapted for films, tv series and theatre productions

Duralumin is  a set of alloys belonging to the family of aluminum-copper alloys and, contrary to what might seem, owes its name to the German city of Düren.

The introduction of this material in the elaboration of the blades of our swords and daggers for theater cinema and television reduces substantially the weight of the weapons and  improves the performance of aluminum.

The blades need less maintenance, enduring in a remarkable way the exigencies of the hard filming sessions and also allowing the extension of the time life of them  because they do not need to be continuously restored due to the received impacts, saving this way time and costs.

The versatility and functionality of the materials and techniques used allow in a  practical and simple way the exchange of the tempered carbon steel blades for their replicas made in duralumin and vice versa.
